Anglian Home Improvement Reviews
Who are Anglian?
Anglian are one of the UK’s most established manufacturers and suppliers when it comes to windows and doors, although they tend to market themselves under the ‘home improvements’ umbrella due to their range of products extending to renovations, garages and porches.
Just like many of the market’s leading window and door manufacturers, Anglian make each product individually to order to ensure it fits perfectly and is designed unique to each and every customer. They are also one of the few companies that clearly highlight on their website that their entire range is made right here on British soil, adopting the ‘Made in Britain’ marque and accreditation of their products. Any company can claim that their products are made here in Britain, but this official marque awarded by the independent body enables customers to establish who truly is.
It is easy to see that Anglian may appeal more to the family market with their personal and traditional approach. Whilst they are by no means unique in designing, manufacturing and supplying every order made to measure, this service is marketed by Anglian in a much more delicate, personal way that feels very genuine when they speak about customer care and service. They also take pride in promoting that many of their staff have worked for Anglian for many years; perhaps something that is not as common in this day and age, but always a positive sign when workers stay with their company.
It is not surprising to see companies promoting a high recommendation rate from customers, but what is interesting is Anglian’s claim that 42% of their weekly sales are from returning customers. This shows customer satisfaction better than anything really. Admittedly, this is perhaps easier to obtain when a business offers a wide variety of products as typically you would not expect a customer to repeat their business too often when it comes to window and door installations. However Anglian’s product range, customer service and impressive collaboration with Laura Ashley clearly provides incentive enough to keep their customers coming back.
What areas do Anglian cover?
Anglian cover the whole of the United Kingdom, unlike some suppliers who only cover England and parts of Wales. What is unique to Anglian though is that you can find Anglian showrooms across the UK, all regionally based. Not only do they have literally hundreds of showrooms and branches across the UK, they have local experts based in each one so you can always contact them via phone or e-mail for further information, rather than being directed to one national call center.
It is always nice to see products in the flesh and whilst scheduling an appointment where a salesman or saleswoman comes to your home, they are still limited as to what samples they can bring with them. Not all customers feel comfortable with someone arriving at their home either, so visiting a showroom close to you is an ideal alternative. If you want to do more than browse you can book a design appointment in advance to speak with a team member to discover what is going to suit your needs best.
Value for money is at the top of everybody’s priority list and with tested products exceeding UK standards as regulated by the British Standards Institution and FENSA, you can be sure that you are getting a good quality product. But what about the price? As with the majority of companies now, Anglian offer a price match guarantee. Quotes are provided upon request, just like all of their competitors due to the nature of their made-to-measure manufacturing lines.
Anglian provide quite substantial amount of information on their price match guarantee going into a lot of detail. This is actually incredibly useful as their competitors do not provide such transparency up front regarding their price match promise. Generally a ‘no obligation’ quote is of course provided and customers have a limited period of time to shop around but are not committed to anything. This is the perfect situation really. It does seem however with Anglian that the price match promise is applicable after signing your contract, which inevitably means that the price match is not applicable on ‘no obligation’ quotes. It does, however, mean that you can still take advantage of this guarantee and have 7 days to compare the price provided, but you would need to be willing to commit to the sale first of all. If you do find the exact product cheaper elsewhere then this is great and they will match the price, however if the comparison price does not qualify, you are ultimately left tied into a contract.
There is an argument that Anglian may do this to prevent customers from obtaining quotes from them to have them matched elsewhere with no intention of using their services.

Anglian pride themselves not only on their Made in Britain marque but also on their acquired accreditations from bodies such as Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme (FENSA), and the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF). Not all other suppliers have these accreditations as unlike British testing standards, these are voluntary and so suppliers choose to put themselves forward for the additional review. If obtained, it only but adds another seal of approval to the high standard and high quality of their products.
Anglian products are also covered by the below guarantees:
- A 10-year guarantee on parts and labour for windows, doors and conservatories
- A 15-year guarantee on all gas-filled sealed units
- GGF deposit protection
- A free insurance-backed guarantee on all windows and doors covering the cost of partial or complete repair, rebuilding or rectification, in the unlikely event that they stop trading
Anglian offer a wide variety of energy-efficient, secure and stylish windows and doors to suit any style and property. Their large product ranges come with plenty of modifiable options to ensure you achieve the look that you want.
Offering uPVC, wooden and aluminium frames for all products, as well as GRP composite doors, every single item is assembled with the latest energy-saving technology and security features to ensure your home is as efficient and safe as possible.
Whether working with new properties to create a modern look or simply looking to refresh your home’s current look, every product is especially created and attended to down to the very last detail.
As well as constantly researching and developing the efficiency of their products when it comes to keeping the warm in and cold out, Anglian also constantly review their locking systems prioritising the security of their customer’s homes. All of their external doors offer the highest level of security by being fitted with a state-of-the-art Yale kitemarked 3 star cylinder locks as standard.
Anglian pride them self on having developed their own uPVC formula, completely unique to them, after almost 50 years of expertise in the industry to guarantee the best standards and the highest quality.
uPVC are renowned for being low-cost and low-maintenance as they do not fade or rot as is often a risk with untreated wooden frames. uPVC is consequently the nation’s most popular choice and Anglian’s frames are designed with the below benefits as standard for any casement, tilt and turn, sash, bay or cottage windows:
Shot bolt locks and excluder device
Anglian use high security, high quality steel shot bolt locks in their frames which are secured at two different points. Anti-jenny devices installed also help resist forcing to maximise the safety of your home.
Key locking handles
All handles fitted as standard come with a key locking feature to ensure all access points are as secure as possible for your peace of mind.
To strengthen frames as much as possible, the uPVC is incredibly robust with multi-chambers and welded joints. This technique is commonly used in windows and is very efficient.
Anglian internally fit glazing beads as standard wherever used. This is again a very popular technique amongst suppliers and essentially means that the glass cannot be removed from the outside. This inevitably increases the security of any product it is used with.
Toughened glass can also be fitted by Anglian where required; this is sometimes stipulated as a legal requirements dependent on the exact product use although is quite uncommon. Toughened glass is essentially ‘safety glass’ that if broken disintegrates into small granular pieces to minimise potential damage and injury.
Whilst uPVC is the nation’s most popular choice, the beauty and character of traditional and natural wooden frames can still outweigh the benefits of uPVC. Timber frames have come a long way in recent years with advanced developments enabling them to have many of the same benefits of uPVC when it comes to increased energy efficiency and security.
Anglian combine traditional, age-old joinery skills possessed by their expert teams with modern developments and technology to create beautiful and unique windows that are equally durable. The bonus is that all timber and wood used by Anglia is sustainably sourced which does make them stand out from competitors.
As well as treating and laminating wooden frames to maximise its durability, all frames, regardless of the exact wood used, are precision-machined and pressure-preserved for truly excellent longevity, security and energy-efficiency. All of their timber frames are available in a wide range of colours; over 200 in fact, which means they can genuinely create a bespoke product for each customer. Timber frames are commonly thought of as only being available with double glazing. Anglian do offer timber frames with both double and triple glazing, as well as secondary glazing which makes a huge difference for their customers.
Aluminium is an increasingly popular choice with its light and delicate appearance that can refresh any property to add an element of style or bring in a modern upgrade regardless of your type of property. The extensive range and variety of modifications available within it ensures that they can be adapted to any style.
Anglian use strong, polyester powder-coated frames that provide a long-lasting finish that, contrary to many customers’ concerns when it comes to using metals, will not corrode. Anglian’s aluminium frames exceed standard requirements and building regulations with their casement window frames guaranteed for 10 years and all sealed units guaranteed for 15 years. Alike with their range of timber frames, aluminium come in over 200 colours and can be easily configured to fit any shape and suit any style.
What do their customers think?
Anglian feature their customer reviews on their website and are consistently awarded 4 or 5 stars by their customers. Both their products and their customer service are praised incredibly highly as well as the value for money.
Back in 2011 Anglian were featured on UK programme ‘Watchdog’ following a large number of complaints from customers around the installation and fitting of their products. The programme specifically looked at a poorly built conservatory and badly fitted windows with different customers which really did uncover some shockingly terrible efforts from the experts employed to install. It is no secret that even the best quality products are useless unless fitted properly and this Watchdog feature would suggest some poor decisions had been made in their recruitment around this time with ‘botch job’ installations carried out.

This no doubt damaged the reputation of Anglian home improvements, although customer reviews since then are generally pretty positive, even on third party review sites where a more balanced picture is often presented than on their own website where the best reviews are inevitably prioritised for focus.
To celebrate 50 years in business Anglian launched the following promotional video giving an overview of the quality of their products and offering assurance of their attention to detail and care
It has almost become an expectation by customers for companies to always be offering one deal or another, and in truth, it is often the case that they are. Alike many of their competitors Anglian run special discounts and offers throughout the year.
At current a discount of 27½% is offered off of all conservatories, orangeries, verandas and extensions, as well as up to 50% off of windows, doors and porches. Anglian also offer a year-round discount of up to £500 on many products for all enquiries received through their website at www.anglianhome.co.uk
